The elegant French macaron has become extremely popular in recent years. The perfect macaron should offer a wonderful contrast between the crisp exterior, dense outer shell and soft, ganache-filled centre. Heaven when served with a good strong French coffee!
In this fun three-hour workshop you will learn all the techniques involved in baking your own beautiful macarons. You will be able to go home with a box of your macarons at the end of the course. This class will include a tea or coffee break and we will taste the macarons together at the end of the class. If you are celebrating a birthday or other occasion we can include a lovely glass of champagne too!
Skills covered include:
-making an Italian (stabilised) meringue mixture and using a sugar thermometer
-"macronage" - working the macaron mixture to achieve the correct consistency
-making a chocolate ganache using fine French chocolate
-making a salted caramel
-piping the ganache filling & assembling the finished macarons
Mirabelle Kitchen welcomes both native and non-native speakers of English who wish to practise their English in a supportive environment. We encourage a warm, friendly atmosphere of culinary learning and cultural exchange!
Please note, because macarons take a lot of time and space, places are limited to five participants.
Macarons are naturally gluten-free (but do contain almonds and/or hazelnuts).
NB: Please bear in mind that this class can sometimes run over by half an hour - it is best not to plan another activity immediately afterwards!
